Samsung went all out with the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Despite its steep price tag, this is easily the company's most complete smartwatch yet. Built for endurance seekers, divers, and high-end wearable enthusiasts, it offers a top-of-the-line experience—even if its extreme capabilities might be overkill for everyday users.
Design and Fit
Featuring a large 47mm dial with a "squircle" shape, the Watch Ultra 2 makes a bold statement on the wrist. While it can look disproportionately large on smaller wrists, its 61.5-gram weight wears remarkably well over long periods. Samsung achieved this comfort by making the body 12% thinner and pairing it with a default Marine band that is 26% lighter than before. The only real design drawback is the proprietary strap connection, which prevents you from using standard universal watch bands.
Build Quality and Interface
Durability is a major strength thanks to a tough titanium casing and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. However, users might miss the physical rotating bezel, which remains exclusive to Samsung's Classic smartwatches. Navigating solely via the touchscreen can lead to erratic touch responses if your fingers or the watch screen are wet.
Unrivaled Display Performance
The screen on the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 sets a new benchmark for wearables. It features a slightly expanded 1.52-inch AMOLED display with slimmer bezels, vibrant color output, outstanding viewing angles, and precise haptic feedback. Most impressively, Samsung achieved an astounding peak brightness of 5,000 nits, surpassing the 4,500 nits offered by Garmin’s Fenix 8 Pro to become the brightest smartwatch display on the market. Fresh minimalist and maximalist watch faces round out this exceptional screen setup.
