How this works

This tool only checks that a number has the correct format (exactly 9 digits) - it cannot tell you whether a PAN is real, active, or belongs to a legitimate business, since the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) doesn't publish a mathematical check-digit formula for Nepali PAN numbers the way some countries do. For real verification - checking if a PAN is actually registered and seeing the taxpayer's name - use IRD's own official PAN search.

In Nepal, a business's VAT number is the same as its PAN - VAT registration doesn't issue a separate number, it's noted against the existing PAN.
