Apple officially unveiled its fourth-generation Apple Watch Ultra during its September event, expanding its line of rugged smartwatches alongside the mainstream Series 12, iPhone 18 series, iPhone Duo, and AirPods 5. Designed for outdoor enthusiasts and athletes, the Ultra 4 introduces enhanced health tracking, improved GPS precision, and Apple's latest silicon.
Rugged Design and Ultra-Bright Display
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 retains its sturdy aesthetic, crafted with a 49mm Grade 5 titanium chassis offered in Natural and Black finishes. Dimensions stand at 49 × 44 × 12mm with a weight of around 63 grams. For outdoor endurance, the casing provides 100-meter water resistance, IP6X dust protection, and MIL-STD-810H durability certification.
On the front, it features an Always-On Retina wide-angle OLED display utilizing LTPO3 technology with a 1Hz refresh rate. The 422 × 514-pixel resolution screen hits up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness for optimal outdoor visibility and is protected by sapphire crystal. Physical controls include the side button, Digital Crown, and customizable Action button, alongside gesture support like double tap and wrist flick.
S11 Silicon and Audio Intelligence
Powering the Ultra 4 is the new S11 chip, replacing the previous S10. It houses a 64-bit dual-core processor, a 4-core Neural Engine, and 64GB of built-in storage. Running watchOS with Apple Intelligence, the watch supports smart tools such as Live Rewind (showing 15 seconds of transcribed audio), Siri Recap, Sound Recognition, and instant Shazam integration, though some AI features will roll out later in the year.
Upgraded Health and Fitness Tracking
Apple has redesigned the Health Sensing System to record heart-rate data every five seconds and HRV up to 24 times more frequently. These metrics feed into a new Readiness score ranging from 0 to 10 to gauge daily recovery. The smartwatch also features a machine-learning-powered pedometer for precise step counts, dual-frequency GPS, ECG, Blood Oxygen monitoring, sleep apnea detection, hypertension alerts, and cycle tracking.
Expected Price in Nepal and Availability
