Xiaomi 18 Pro Debuts Flagship Innovations
Following its recent foldable release, Xiaomi has introduced its latest flagship lineup in China, headlining the Xiaomi 18 Pro alongside the 18 Pro Max. Succeeding last year's Xiaomi 17 Pro, this new premium smartphone introduces Qualcomm's newest 2nm platform, a pair of 200MP Leica-tuned cameras, an advanced privacy display, and a functional rear secondary screen—all powered by a large 7,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging.
Design, Build, and Hardware Privacy Screen
Even with its massive 7,000mAh battery, the Xiaomi 18 Pro keeps a slim 7.2mm profile and weighs 203 grams. Built with an aluminum chassis, it comes in Black, White, Pink, Red, and Blue, and features an IP68 water and dust resistance rating.
On the front, the phone houses a 6.4-inch LTPO AMOLED main screen with an 1120 x 2436-pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and up to 4,000 nits peak brightness via Xiaomi's M11 OLED setup. Protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0, it supports 68 billion colors, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and BT.2020. The panel uses Super Pixel 2.0 architecture with 8.18 million RGB sub-pixels for improved power efficiency and sharpness.
A standout feature is the hardware-level Smart Privacy Display, similar in concept to the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. Dedicated privacy pixels narrow the light emission angle to block side views beyond 60 degrees. Users can also selectively apply privacy shielding to banking apps, social platforms, floating windows, or notifications.
Secondary Rear Screen and Performance
On the back, the phone includes a 2.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display (596 x 976 resolution, 120Hz, 4,000 nits brightness). This screen serves as a camera viewfinder, supports duet shots, and works with a Smart Rear-Screen Companion for AI visuals, voice commands, and Mi Home smart home controls.
Powering the device is Qualcomm's newly announced standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor built on a 2nm node with Oryon CPU cores. Combined with up to 16GB RAM, 1TB storage, and a sizeable cooling system, the device runs HyperOS 4 on top of Android 17.
Leica Cameras and Nepal Outlook
The Leica camera setup includes two 200MP sensors. The primary 200MP sensor features an f/1.7 aperture, 23mm focal length, dual-pixel PDAF, and OIS. Joining it is a 200MP periscope telephoto camera offering 3.2x optical zoom (75mm focal length, f/2.4, OIS) with a 10cm close-up focus capability for macro shots. The Xiaomi 18 Pro is expected to launch in Nepal in the coming months.
