Samsung has quietly expanded its budget smartphone lineup with the official launch of the Galaxy A08 4G, alongside the Galaxy A18. Serving as a direct successor to the Galaxy A07, this new entry brings key improvements in battery capacity and overall durability while keeping much of the core hardware familiar.
Design and Display
The Galaxy A08 4G maintains a clean aesthetic featuring a glossy finish and a vertically aligned, oval-shaped dual-camera module on the back. Due to its larger battery capacity, the phone is slightly heavier and thicker than the previous generation, measuring 8mm in thickness and weighing 197g. Build protection has also seen an upgrade, moving from an IP54 rating to IP64 for improved dust and water splash protection. Color options include Dark Blue, Green, and Silver.
For viewing, the device sports a 6.7-inch PLS LCD screen with an HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate for smoother navigation. The front camera sits inside Samsung's traditional U-Cut notch.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Galaxy A08 4G relies on the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, the same processor used in the Galaxy A07. It comes paired with 4GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage, which can be expanded further via a microSD card slot. While performance remains tuned for everyday tasks and casual use, software longevity is a major selling point. The device boots Android 17 with One UI 9.0 out of the box, with Samsung committing to six years of major OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
Cameras and Battery Life
The camera setup remains unchanged from its predecessor. It features a dual-rear camera array consisting of a 50MP primary lens and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, an 8MP camera handles video calls and selfies.
The most significant enhancement is in the battery department. The Galaxy A08 4G packs a large 6,000mAh battery (up from 5,000mAh on the A07), which Samsung claims delivers up to 19 hours of video playback. The device also supports 25W fast charging.
