Introduction and Pricing
OPPO recently expanded its Reno lineup in Nepal with two new devices: the standard Reno 16 and its sibling, the Reno 16F. Carrying a price tag of Rs. 89,999, the Reno 16F is positioned roughly Rs. 20,000 lower than the flagship variant. While it stays beneath the lakh threshold, it remains a hefty asking price where expectations for performance, cameras, and overall hardware are naturally elevated.
Design and Build Quality
Visually, the Reno 16F mirrors the design language of the premium Reno 16 almost entirely. In Nepal, it is offered in two finishes: a subtle Twilight Violet and a patterned Pop White showcasing a 3D Pop Planet aesthetic. The device weighs around 195 grams and features a boxy frame that offers a comfortable, secure grip, even for users with smaller hands.
The front glass is protected by OPPO's Crystal Guard glass. A standout structural feature is its rating suite—boasting IP68, IP69, and IP69K certifications for top-tier defense against dust ingress and hot water jets. On the downside, the darker Twilight Violet rear panel attracts smudges and fingerprints very quickly, though OPPO includes a protective hard case right in the box.
Display Quality
Visual performance on the Reno 16F is impressive. It equips a 6.57-inch AMOLED screen surrounded by slim bezels, creating an engaging experience for streaming movies and general media consumption. The display supports a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, and broad DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, ensuring vibrant visuals and fluid navigation.
Performance and Cameras
Under the hood, the phone houses a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy processor. While daily tasks, video playback, and general UI navigation run smoothly alongside strong battery life, this specific chipset feels underwhelming for an Rs. 89,999 smartphone, particularly for heavy gaming. Fortunately, the camera setup compensates considerably, delivering surprisingly rich detail and reliable portrait captures that stand out in day-to-day photography.
