Sony has officially introduced its flagship "1000X The Collexion" wireless over-ear headphones in Nepal. Launched to mark the 10th anniversary of Sony's noise-cancelling MDR-1000X line, this special model addresses long-standing complaints about plastic builds in the company's high-end audio lineup.
Refined Build and Ergonomics
Unlike the standard WH-1000XM6, The Collexion incorporates premium materials throughout. It features a stainless steel hinge extending to the headband, metal buttons, and earcups lined with soft faux leather. Available in Platinum and Black, the headphones weigh 320 grams, compared to 254 grams on the XM6. While there is no IP rating and the frame no longer folds sideways, it rests flat in a redesigned carrying case reminiscent of the older WH-1000XM5. Comfort remains a primary focus, supported by a broader cushioned headband and wider ear pads for extended listening sessions.
Controls and Connectivity
Alongside standard touch controls, the left earcup features physical buttons for Noise Cancelling/Ambient modes and a new "Listening Mode" toggle, letting users switch between stereo listening and 360 Upmix audio. Physical ports include a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C charging port. Wirelessly, it boasts Bluetooth 6.0 with Auracast broadcast capability and multipoint pairing for two devices simultaneously.
Audio Drivers and ANC Performance
Equipped with a 30mm dynamic driver, The Collexion offers a frequency response of 4 Hz to 40 kHz and an impedance of 48 Ω. It supports SBC, AAC, LDAC, and LC3 codecs. The sound profile delivers a warm, bass-focused signature with a slight boost near 20 Hz and a treble dip around 7 kHz. Sony has also integrated its DSEE Ultimate upscaling engine, alongside custom sound customization via the 10-band equalizer in the Sony Sound Connect app. Paired with top-grade Active Noise Cancellation, the flagship headphones offer a complete high-end audio package.
