Redmi has expanded its wearable audio lineup by introducing its first open-ear clip-on model, the Redmi Clip Neo, in China. Debuting alongside the Redmi K100 smartphone and entering the market around the same time as the OnePlus Buds Clip, these new earbuds combine ergonomic design with capable audio hardware and custom control options.
Design and Ergonomics
Unlike standard in-ear audio products, the Redmi Clip Neo utilizes an open-ear design that clips around the ear pinna, allowing users to remain aware of their environment. The architecture centers around a track-shaped C-bridge built with a 0.6mm memory titanium wire encased in skin-friendly liquid silicone. Weighing 5.3 grams per earbud, the fit was designed using structural data from over 1,000 ear contours and verified through 25,000 bending stress tests.
A standout feature is its symmetrical build: the earbuds lack designated left or right channels, allowing either bud to be worn on either ear seamlessly. Automatic wear detection also pauses or resumes playback when the earbuds are removed or placed back on. The product comes in Zero Black and Pearl White finishes, with a vertical charging case that incorporates a Cloud-Gap Light Effect 2.0 battery indicator. Additionally, Redmi collaborated with Chinese lifestyle brand CryingCenter on a limited-edition box set containing the Zero Black earbuds, a branded pouch, exclusive stickers, and customized packaging.
Audio Performance and Call Quality
For acoustic output, the Redmi Clip Neo is equipped with 12mm dynamic drivers powered by dual N52 neodymium magnets and a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coated diaphragm. Compared to single-magnetic drivers, this design increases magnetic flux by 20%, maximum amplitude by 25%, and volume output by 40%. To handle potential sound leakage and low-frequency loss typical of open-ear gear, it incorporates a dynamic bass compensation algorithm alongside rear pressure-relief vents aligned with the ear canal. Sound tuning can be adjusted via four equalizer presets or a customizable 10-band EQ.
Voice calls rely on a dual-microphone setup assisted by dynamic AI noise reduction. Physical button controls manage playback, phone calls, and virtual assistants (including Siri on iOS devices) through single, double, triple, or press-and-hold gestures. The earbuds also feature listening duration tracking, ambient noise monitoring, and map-based location tracking.
Connectivity and Battery Life
The device runs on Bluetooth 5.4 with support for SBC and AAC codecs. It includes dual-device multipoint connectivity, Xiaomi pop-up pairing, and quick reconnection upon opening the case lid. On a single charge, the earbuds deliver up to 7 hours of continuous listening, with the charging case extending total battery life to 32 hours.
Expected Price in Nepal
While currently available in the Chinese market, official launch details for other regions have not yet been announced. If the Redmi Clip Neo reaches the domestic market, it is expected to serve as an accessible open-ear option for local buyers.
