Oppo has officially expanded its lineup with the introduction of the Oppo Reno 16F, serving as the direct successor to last year's Reno 15F 5G. Positioned as a premium mid-range device, this smartphone focuses on delivering a well-rounded feature set, featuring a high-brightness AMOLED display, exceptional durability ratings, and strong battery performance.
Design and Build Quality
The Oppo Reno 16F presents a clean aesthetic with a squarish camera module on the back housing three sensors alongside an LED flash. The phone measures 8.58mm in thickness for the Pop White finish, while the Twilight Violet and Dream Purple variants are slightly slimmer at 8.44mm. Due to its massive battery, the device weighs between 195 and 197 grams.
In terms of durability, the Reno 16F stands out with IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance, providing superior protection compared to standard mid-range offerings. The front display is safeguarded by Crystal Guard glass.
Display Features
On the front, the smartphone features a 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The screen reaches up to 1,400 nits in high-brightness mode, ensuring clear legibility under bright sunlight. It also supports 10-bit color depth with 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. Additionally, Splash Touch and Glove Touch technologies allow users to operate the screen smoothly with wet hands or while wearing gloves.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Reno 16F replaces the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 (4nm) processor found on the Reno 15F with a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset, offering better thermal efficiency and graphics. It is configured with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage.
For mobile gamers, the device includes AI HyperBoost 3.0 and the Game Master Toolkit to maintain frame rates and control heat. Internal lab tests indicate the phone can run Mobile Legends: Bang Bang at 90 FPS and Free Fire at 60 FPS for up to 5 hours continuously in Pro Gamer mode. Out of the box, it runs ColorOS 16 based on Android 16.
Camera Capabilities
For photography, the Reno 16F carries a versatile rear triple-camera system: a 50MP f/1.8 main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 50MP f/2.8 telephoto lens featuring 3.5x optical zoom and OIS, and an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens. Up front, there is a 50MP f/2.0 selfie camera with autofocus and a wide 100-degree field of view. Both front and rear setups support 4K video recording at 30 fps, complemented by EIS and OIS on the main cameras for stabilized footage.
Battery and Charging
Powering the device is a large 7,000mAh silicone-carbon battery. It supports 80W wired fast charging, 55W PPS, and reverse wired charging capabilities. Oppo states that the phone can be charged from 0 to 100% in just 62 minutes and easily lasts more than a day even under heavy usage patterns.
