DJI has expanded its compact camera lineup with the introduction of the Osmo Nano, a lightweight wearable action camera designed to compete with tiny form-factor competitors like the Insta360 GO series. Despite weighing only 52 grams for the camera module, it packs high-end imaging performance into a tiny body.
Design and Display
The Osmo Nano features a versatile magnetic mounting system, allowing users to attach it to hats, helmets, pet collars, or any metallic surface. Its dual-sided magnetic layout also makes switching to selfie mode straightforward. The camera body is waterproof up to 10 meters without requiring extra housing, while the accompanying Vision Dock carries an IPX4 splash resistance rating. The dock adds 72 grams to the setup and features a 1.96-inch OLED touchscreen boasting a peak brightness of 800 nits for managing transfers, remote triggering, and settings adjustment.
Camera and Video Capabilities
Equipped with a large 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor shared with the Action 5 Pro, the Osmo Nano supports 4K video capture at 60fps as well as 4K at 120fps for slow-motion clips. It features a wide 143° field of view, RockSteady 3.0 stabilization, and HorizonBalancing that corrects tilt up to ±30°. Content creators also get 10-bit D-Log M color profile support for advanced color grading. For still photos, the camera captures 12MP shots, with computational features boosting capability up to 35MP.
Battery, Storage, and Audio
The standalone camera houses a 520mAh battery offering around 90 minutes of 1080p recording. Docking it with the Vision Dock adds an extra 1300mAh capacity, bringing the total operating time to approximately 200 minutes. Fast charging capability allows the dock to replenish the camera to 80% in about 20 minutes.
Storage options include 64GB and 128GB internal memory, with support for expansion up to 1TB using a microSD card via the dock. Data transfer speeds reach up to 400 MB/s on the 64GB variant and up to 600 MB/s on the 128GB version. Smart features include gesture controls (nodding or tapping), a Pre-Rec mode to capture footage before pressing record, and configurable auto-recording intervals. For audio, the camera packs dual stereo microphones and supports OsmoAudio Direct Microphone Connection, allowing direct connectivity with up to two compatible newer-generation DJI mic transmitters.
