Xiaomi has officially introduced the Xiaomi Pad 9 in China as the direct successor to last year's Pad 8. Arriving alongside the Pad 9 Pro and joining the Pad 9 Pro Max, the new tablet brings enhanced battery capacity, productivity features, and a high-resolution display catered toward work and entertainment.
Design and Display
Constructed with a minimalist metal unibody, the Xiaomi Pad 9 comes in Black, Silver, Spruce Green, and Ice Peach Pink. The standard variant features a slim 5.75mm profile weighing 485g, while the anti-reflective Matte Edition measures 5.8mm and weighs 494g.
On the front, the tablet equips an 11.2-inch 3.2K LCD screen (3200 x 2136 resolution) with a productivity-friendly 3:2 aspect ratio and up to 144Hz refresh rate. It delivers up to 800 nits global peak brightness and supports 12-bit color depth, DCI-P3 color coverage, HDR10, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision. Eye safety is backed by TÜV flicker-free and hardware-level low blue light certifications, while wet-hand touch functionality is also included.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Pad 9 retains the 4nm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor seen in its predecessor. It offers configurations up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The tablet debuts with HyperOS 4.0 built on Android 17, placing a heavy focus on office productivity through software additions like WPS for Pad and a redesigned Office Suite.
Cameras, Audio, and Connectivity
For optics, the tablet carries a 13MP rear sensor capable of recording 4K video at 30fps. Front-facing video calls are handled by an 8MP ultra-wide lens limited to 1080p video at 30fps. Audio and communication are powered by quad Dolby Atmos-tuned speakers and a four-microphone array. Wireless options include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, alongside a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port supporting up to 5Gbps transfer speeds.
Battery and Fast Charging
The device packs an upgraded 9,720mAh battery, up from the 9,200mAh capacity found on the Pad 8. It supports 45W wired fast charging as well as 22.5W reverse charging capabilities to power up accessory devices on the go.
