Tribhuvan University (TU) has issued a notice asking faculty members and administrative employees who failed to return to work after completing study leave, or who did not serve the required period after returning, to contact the Office of the Registrar by the end of Poush 2083.
Ongoing Financial Recovery Drive
The call comes as part of the university's initiative to recover financial dues from individuals who did not adhere to the commitments made in their study leave agreements. According to the Personnel Administration Division within the Office of the Registrar, TU has so far successfully recouped approximately Rs. 165 million across 75 resolved cases.
The recovery proceedings target staff who either abandoned their university positions post-leave or resigned before fulfilling their mandatory post-leave service duration. TU is reclaiming the full salary, allowances, and benefits paid during the leave duration, along with additional penalties established under university regulations.
Additional Cases Under Review
TU indicated that it is continuing to audit additional cases and consolidate financial records. For the cases where calculation processes have been completed, the total identified recoverable amount currently stands at around Rs. 215 million.
Concerned former employees and teachers are instructed to report to the Office of the Registrar or send an inquiry via email to studyleave@tu.edu.np before the Poush 2083 deadline. The university warned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeline will trigger formal legal action under existing TU regulations and the terms of individual bond agreements.
