The Department of Education has launched a nationwide campaign directing all community schools across Nepal to update their comprehensive land details in the Integrated Educational Management Information System (IEMIS). This initiative aims to strengthen school property management and systematically resolve longstanding ownership and boundary issues.
Scope of Information Collection
Through an official directive addressed to all Education Development and Coordination Units, the department has instructed schools to compile and upload records of all land owned, occupied, or utilized by them. The update must cover land registered directly in the school's name, government property, public or community-owned land, leased properties, as well as unregistered and currently unused land.
To ensure accurate data collection and address existing legal or administrative hurdles, schools have been advised to actively coordinate with relevant government authorities, local agencies, institutions, and local stakeholders.
Verification Procedure and Deadlines
According to the department's guidelines, community schools are responsible for entering complete and precise land details directly into the IEMIS database. Once submitted, the Education Development and Coordination Units in each district will review and verify the entries to prepare a certified consolidated report.
These verified district-level reports must be submitted to the Department of Education within two months. Local governments have also been urged to provide necessary administrative assistance and support to ensure the campaign is completed successfully within the set timeframe.
