Apple has long resisted bringing touch displays to its laptop lineup, but industry reports suggest that the company’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro could finally hit the market around October or November 2026.
OLED Display and Refined Design
The upcoming touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected to transition from mini-LED panels to vibrant OLED screens with built-in touch capabilities. Both 14-inch and 16-inch models are reportedly in development. Rather than morphing into an iPad hybrid, the notebook will maintain its traditional form factor, retaining a physical keyboard and trackpad.
Apple is also aiming to make these models noticeably thinner and lighter than current generations, providing welcome relief for users carrying the heavier 16-inch version. Additionally, the existing display notch could be replaced by a smaller camera cutout equipped with Dynamic Island-style functionality.
M5 Series Performance and Software Adjustments
Powering the new laptops will likely be Apple's M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Industry insights indicate Apple may skip high-end M6 configurations to concentrate on its future M7 chip series for broader AI enhancements, though a standard M6 chip might still be offered in base models.
On the software front, test builds are reportedly running macOS 27.2, featuring interface updates aimed at making touch interactions feel intuitive Alongside traditional mouse and trackpad controls.
Pricing and Launch Window
Because Apple has not officially announced the project, exact pricing details remain unconfirmed. However, these touch-enabled laptops are expected to sit above the existing premium tier, making them more expensive than current top-end MacBook Pro models.
