Sony has officially brought its latest flagship wireless earbuds, the WF-1000XM6, to the Nepali market. Serving as the direct successor to the WF-1000XM5, the new earbuds introduce refined hardware, stronger active noise cancellation (ANC), and upgraded sound processing.
Redesigned Build and Improved Ergonomics
Moving away from the glossy aesthetic of the previous generation, the WF-1000XM6 features an elongated, oval pill-shaped design with a textured matte finish for easier handling. The earbuds are 11% slimmer than the XM5, weighing 6.5 grams per bud with medium ear tips attached. The design uses the ear's natural concha anatomy as an anchor for stability, accompanied by four sizes of memory foam ear tips in the box. A new internal ventilation structure increases airflow to reduce internal body noises, such as footsteps or chewing.
The companion charging case has flat top and bottom surfaces, allowing it to stand upright on desks or wireless charging pads. It measures 61.6 x 41.1 x 26.5 mm and weighs 47 grams. Sony has upgraded the hinge to metal, hidden the active LED beneath the surface, and made the earbuds easier to extract. Color options include Black and Platinum Silver with metallic accents.
Enhanced Audio Processing and Drivers
At the core of the WF-1000XM6 is the new Integrated Processor V2, which upgrades audio processing to 32-bit resolution. It operates alongside the QN3e noise-canceling processor derived from the WH-1000XM6 over-ear headphones. Sound is delivered through 8.4mm dynamic drivers with a redesigned diaphragm and notched edge structures to minimize distortion. Tuning was completed in partnership with Grammy-winning mastering engineers.
Codec support includes AAC, SBC, LC3, and high-resolution LDAC (up to 24-bit/96kHz). The frequency response covers 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz over standard Bluetooth, extending up to 40,000 Hz via LDAC. Additional software features include DSEE Extreme AI upscaling, 360 Reality Audio with head tracking, and an expanded 10-band equalizer within the Sony Sound Connect app.
Upgraded ANC and Voice Call Tech
Equipped with eight microphones in total (four per earbud), the WF-1000XM6 delivers a claimed 25% boost in noise reduction over its predecessor, targeting mid-to-high frequencies. The QN3e chip powers an Adaptive NC Optimizer that adjusts ANC in real time based on ambient noise and ear tip seal leakage. Transparency features include 20 manual levels, an auto ambient mode, voice passthrough, and Quick Attention mode. For voice calls, each earbud combines two microphones with a dedicated bone conduction sensor.
