Samsung smartphone users in Nepal can now safeguard their devices against unexpected repair bills through two official plans: IMS Care Pack and IMS Care Plus. Both schemes extend the manufacturer's standard warranty by an additional year, while Care Plus goes a step further by offering accidental breakage insurance.
IMS Care Pack: Extended Warranty Coverage
The IMS Care Pack functions primarily as an extended warranty plan. It kicks in after the initial standard warranty expires, giving users an extra year of coverage for eligible manufacturing defects and technical hardware failures at authorized service centers. Additionally, this plan provides discount benefits on eligible paid physical damage repairs, though users must still pay for out-of-warranty physical repairs at reduced rates.
IMS Care Plus: Warranty and Breakage Protection
For broader security, IMS Care Plus combines the one-year extended warranty with one year of physical breakage insurance. It specifically covers damage to the OLED display, metal front frame, and back panel. However, subscribers can only submit one insurance claim during the coverage period. A mandatory deductible of 10% of the approved repair cost applies, subject to a minimum charge of Rs. 5,000. For instance, a claim of Rs. 40,000 incurs a Rs. 5,000 fee due to the minimum threshold, while a Rs. 80,000 claim requires an Rs. 8,000 payment.
Supported Devices and Key Terms
These protection packages are available for select premium Samsung models in Nepal, including the Galaxy S25 and S26 lineups, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series.
Before signing up, users should note important limitations. Neither plan covers battery degradation or battery-related issues under extended warranty. Defect coverage excludes water damage, improper handling, unauthorized modifications, abnormal voltage, and natural disasters. All repairs must be completed by authorized technicians. Should required spare parts become unavailable, the company may provide an alternative settlement calculated from the phone's depreciated value.
