Samsung has officially expanded its foldable lineup in Nepal with the arrival of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, launching alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8. The new flagship brings notable hardware refinements aimed at improving daily ergonomics, featuring a lighter chassis, an updated cover display aspect ratio, top-tier processing power, and extended battery life.
Refined Ergonomics and Build
Design improvements take center stage on the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Tipping the scales at just 201g, it is significantly lighter than the outgoing Fold 7. When folded, the device measures 9.7mm thick and slims down to 4.5mm when opened. Samsung has constructed the frame using Advanced Armor Aluminum and covered the back panel with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It maintains an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance while introducing a new Flex Titanium display structure and anti-reflective screen coating for better outdoor readability. Available colorways include Graphite, Cream, Lavender, and Pistachio.
Vibrant LTPO AMOLED Displays
The outer display now features a wider 10:16 aspect ratio, giving it the feel of a standard smartphone when closed. This cover screen uses a 5.5-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel with a resolution of 1248 x 1972 pixels. Opening the phone exposes a 7.6-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X primary screen with an 1828 x 2448 pixel resolution. Both displays support an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, integrate Vision Booster technology, and achieve up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness.
Hardware, Software, and AI Capabilities
Under the hood, the Fold 8 is powered by Qualcomm's custom Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. Storage options include 12GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB of storage, while the top-tier 1TB model features 16GB of RAM. It runs One UI 9 based on Android 17, backed by a commitment of 7 years of Android OS upgrades and 7 years of security patches. Software enhancements include upgraded Galaxy AI capabilities and refined multitasking layouts for split-screen app usage.
Camera Setup and Battery
For photography, the rear panel houses a dual-camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 50MP ultrawide camera, supporting 8K video capture at 30fps. Instead of an under-display camera design, Samsung has placed traditional 10MP selfie cameras on both the cover and inner folding screens for consistent photo quality. Keeping everything running is a 4,800mAh battery—an upgrade over the 4,400mAh cell in the Fold 7—supporting 45W wired fast charging.
