Minister for Education and Sports Sasmita Pokharel has announced that the government is preparing to introduce an updated school curriculum beginning in the next academic session. Speaking at a suggestion-collection event in Janakpurdham organized for the revision of the National Curriculum Framework 2076, Minister Pokharel stated that the curriculum updates aim to align school education with contemporary needs and global shifts.
To guide the process, the government has formed a dedicated task force responsible for reviewing the existing syllabus. Inputs are being actively gathered from teachers, students, parents, education experts, and various stakeholders across Nepal. Following the incorporation of these recommendations, the updated curriculum will be implemented across Grades 1 through 12.

During her address, Minister Pokharel highlighted the crucial need to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into school courses, noting its growing global impact. She further emphasized transitioning away from purely textbook-centered instruction to emphasize practical, technical, and skill-based education for students.

He assured that feedback from stakeholders will be thoroughly considered to ensure effective implementation in classrooms. Attendees at the event, including educators and student representatives, offered suggestions centered on practical learning, modern technology, and the structured use of AI.

In response, Madhes Province Education and Culture Minister Manoj Kumar Singh stated that the provincial government is fully prepared to collaborate with federal authorities to enhance educational standards. Acknowledging that Madhes Province still falls behind in national educational indicators, he stressed the need for tighter alignment among federal, provincial, and local governments.
