The Private and Boarding School Organisation of Nepal (PABSON) has extended significant support to the survivors of the Bhotekoshi River flood in Rasuwa, allocating and distributing over Rs 20.89 crore (Rs 20,89,02,970) in financial relief.
Following the natural disaster on Bhadra 10, 2083, PABSON initiated a nationwide fundraising drive on Bhadra 11. Contributions were collected from affiliated schools, teachers, administrative staff, students, families, and well-wishers across Nepal, reaching the total tally by Asoj 7, 2083.
Allocation of Collected Relief Funds
The total relief sum comprises direct contributions to national disaster funds as well as local educational support. On Bhadra 26, PABSON handed over Rs 12 crore to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund via Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle. An additional Rs 3,39,02,970 was provided to the fund on Asoj 7 through Education Minister Sasmit Pokhrel. Additionally, member schools contributed Rs 3.5 crore directly into the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund.
To assist affected educational institutions directly, PABSON designated Rs 2 crore specifically for three schools that were entirely destroyed and two schools that sustained partial structural damage in the flood-affected region.
Academic Continuity and Future Plans
PABSON Chief Advisor DK Dhungana emphasized that the association's commitment extends beyond immediate monetary aid to safeguard student learning. He stated that PABSON is prepared to assign at least one educator per school for 10 to 15 days to mitigate temporary teaching staff shortages in affected areas.
According to Dhungana, the Disaster Relief Committee is developing long-term restoration plans and has requested local schools to submit their operational requirements for targeted assistance. Extending gratitude to all contributors, PABSON reaffirmed its commitment to standing alongside the government and citizens during emergencies while prioritizing uninterrupted education for affected children.
