In a major administrative development for higher education leadership in Nepal, new executive officials have been officially appointed to top leadership roles at Nepal Sanskrit University (NSU). Prof. Dr. Jagannath Regmi has been designated as the university's new Rector, while Prof. Dr. Nabaraj Kattel has been appointed as the Registrar.
Official Announcement and Leadership Appointments
The appointments were formally executed by Education and Sports Minister Sashmit Pokharel. Speaking on the decision, newly appointed Registrar Prof. Dr. Kattel verified that both leadership positions were officially filled under the ministerial decision. This follows the prior appointment of Prof. Dr. Bhim Khatiwada, who was selected to serve as the Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Sanskrit University.
Open Competitive Selection Process
In line with efforts to maintain high standards of governance in educational administration, the university's primary administrative positions were selected through an open competitive process. To evaluate applicants and ensure a transparent selection mechanism, the government established a specialized three-member recommendation committee.
This recommendation panel was headed and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Madhav Sharan Upadhyaya. Following a thorough evaluation process, the committee formally submitted its official candidate recommendations for the dual positions of Rector and Registrar, leading directly to the ministerial appointments.
