In response to adverse weather forecasts predicting torrential rainfall across multiple regions of Nepal, the Ministry of Education has issued an urgent advisory requesting the temporary closure of academic institutions. To ensure the physical safety and well-being of all students, children, teachers, and school personnel, local authorities are advised to coordinate school closures on Ashoj 8 and 9 (September 24–25).
Postponement of Examinations and Emergency Support
Meteorological predictions indicate severe rainfall across various parts of the country from Ashoj 9 through Ashoj 11 (September 25–27). Consequently, the Ministry has requested that all universities and examination boards evaluate safety conditions and postpone scheduled examinations falling between Ashoj 9 and 11 as needed.
In addition to academic adjustments, the Ministry recommended that safe and secure school buildings be made available as temporary emergency shelters wherever local conditions necessitate relief efforts during the storm period.
Safety Directives for Parents and Guardians
The government advisory also places strong emphasis on community awareness and child safety during these dangerous weather conditions. Parents and guardians throughout Nepal are strongly urged to exercise heightened caution and prevent children from venturing near dangerous areas, including rising rivers, streams, ponds, and landslide-prone slopes.
