Lenovo's IdeaPad Slim 3 series has long been a favorite choice among Nepali students seeking a reliable laptop that balances performance with affordability. Now in its 8th generation, the 2023 Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i comes equipped with Intel's 13th Gen "Raptor Lake" mobile processors, offering updated computing power for daily tasks.
Design and Build
The design of the IdeaPad Slim 3i Gen 8 remains identical to the previous model. It features an all-plastic construction across the lid and main body. Lenovo offers the laptop in three color choices: Frost Blue, Arctic Grey, and Abyss Blue. Measuring roughly 18mm in thickness, the weight varies by screen size—the 14-inch model weighs around 1.3 kg, whereas the 15-inch edition weighs roughly 1.6 kg.
Display Quality
Both the 14-inch and 15-inch variants offer similar screen specifications. Buyers can select between TN or IPS panel options, with the IPS display delivering superior brightness and wider viewing angles. Both options feature anti-glare coatings, 45% NTSC color coverage, and a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Additionally, a touch-screen display option is available exclusively on the 15-inch model.
Performance and Hardware
The 2023 refresh is powered by 13th Gen Intel processors ranging from budget U-series chips up to the Core i7-1355U. In Nepal, configurations with performance-oriented "H" series CPUs are also available. On the memory front, it ships with 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Since the memory is soldered and non-expandable, picking the right capacity at purchase is essential—especially considering only the 16GB version supports dual-channel mode. Storage is handled by a single M.2 PCIe slot supporting up to 1TB SSD. Alternatively, Lenovo offers an AMD counterpart featuring Ryzen 7000-series chips and DDR4 memory.
Battery and Connectivity
Powering the laptop is a 47Wh to 56.6Wh Li-Polymer battery equipped with Rapid Charge Boost technology, which delivers up to 2 hours of use from a quick 15-minute charge. Port options include three USB ports (including one Type-C with PowerDelivery support), an HDMI port, an SD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Wireless options feature Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 alongside Bluetooth 5.1. Optional add-ons include a backlit keyboard and a fingerprint scanner.
Price in Nepal and Availability
The price of the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i (2023) in Nepal starts at NPR 67,999 for the base Intel Core i3 model. It is available for purchase through local tech retailers across the country.
