Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has instructed relevant authorities to guarantee the seamless execution of the scholarship programme dedicated to the children and families of martyrs and injured individuals from the Gen-Z movement.
Speaking during a discussion with a delegation comprising Injured Gen Z Nepal, the Gen Z Martyr Families Welfare Society, and the Gen Z Coordination Struggle Committee, Minister Pokharel reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to facilitating educational institutions in implementing these benefits seamlessly.
Collaborative Execution and 10% Quota
To streamline the rollout, the Ministry of Education and Sports is currently drafting the necessary operational criteria. Minister Pokharel highlighted that the ministry will actively coordinate with private school associations, including PABSON, N-PABSON, and HISAN. He expressed confidence that the mandatory 10 percent scholarship allocation in private schools will be utilized effectively to support eligible students.
During the meeting, Badal Rai, Coordinator of Injured Gen Z Nepal, urged the ministry to simplify procedures so that children from affected families can easily access educational facilities, particularly across private institutions.
Curriculum Proposals and Policy Guidelines
Representatives from the Gen-Z organizations also recommended integrating subjects related to local product promotion into the national school curriculum. Furthermore, they emphasized the necessity of robust coordination among federal, provincial, and local government tiers to elevate overall educational standards in Nepal.
This initiative follows the ministry's approval of the 'Guidelines for Providing Free Education to Families of GEN Z Movement Martyrs and the Injured, 2083.' Under these official guidelines, family members of Gen-Z movement martyrs as well as those who suffered serious or critical injuries are entitled to receive free education up to the bachelor's level.
