Apple has officially introduced the latest 14-inch MacBook Pro, featuring the brand-new M6 chip as the direct successor to last year's M5 model. Rather than altering the physical design, Apple has focused on internal enhancements, delivering major gains in graphics and machine learning alongside extended battery endurance reaching up to 24 hours.
Familiar Design and Display Capabilities
The updated laptop maintains Apple's signature aluminum chassis with flat edges, rounded corners, and a top display notch. It measures 1.55cm in thickness and weighs approximately 1.55kg, keeping it highly portable for professionals. Color options include Space Black and Silver. Input features a backlit Magic Keyboard with full-height function keys and Touch ID, paired with a pressure-sensitive Force Touch trackpad.
Up front, the device houses a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display carrying a resolution of 3024 × 1964 pixels (254 ppi) and a 120Hz ProMotion adaptive refresh rate. Brightness reaches up to 1,000 nits for sustained full-screen output and 1,600 nits peak for HDR content. It also supports a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, P3 wide color gamut, and True Tone technology. An optional nano-texture screen finish is available to reduce glare in bright environments.
M6 Processor Performance and Memory Options
The primary highlight is the M6 chip, which packs a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU. Apple reports up to 30% faster graphics rendering than the M5, aiding high-resolution video editing and 3D modeling tasks. To manage AI workloads, the chip incorporates a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and GPU-integrated Neural Accelerators, offering 25% faster on-device AI performance. Developers will also benefit from up to 1.3 times faster project build speeds in Xcode compared to the M5 generation.
Base configurations start with 16GB of unified memory, with 24GB and 32GB options available for heavy workloads. Internal storage starts at 1TB and can be expanded up to 4TB.
Longer Battery Life and Fast Charging
Equipped with a 72.4Wh battery, the M6 MacBook Pro delivers up to 24 hours of video streaming and up to 16 hours of wireless web browsing—a notable jump from the M5 model's 22-hour and 14-hour ratings. The laptop includes a 70W USB-C power adapter in the box and supports fast charging when connected to a 96W or higher adapter.
