Yatri P2 Officially Launched in Nepal: Specs, Battery Options, and Features

Four years after introducing its initial model, Yatri has officially unveiled the Yatri P2 electric scooter in Nepal. Developed under a joint venture with Sipradi, the new EV was launched by Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle at Park Village Resort in Kathmandu. Engineered and manufactured locally, the P2 is tailored specifically to navigate Nepal's steep hills, summer heat, and monsoon conditions.

Design and Practicality

The Yatri P2 features a sporty, sharp body design complemented by Class-D projector LED headlamps and full LED lighting. It is built on a dual-cradle trellis frame, rolling on 14-inch alloy wheels supported by a 90 mm-travel front fork and dual progressive rear shocks. Stopping power comes from dual ventilated disc brakes—240 mm at the front and 220 mm at the rear.

For everyday practicality, the scooter offers a spacious floorboard, 30 liters of LED-illuminated boot space, and a 45W front device charger. Riders can choose from six distinct color options: Everest Snow, Mustang Desert, Bhairab Midnight, Shivapuri Thunder, Annapurna Storm, and Sauraha Mist.

Performance, Battery, and Range

Powering the P2 is a 10 kW peak-power mid-drive PMSM motor producing 315 Nm of wheel torque, capable of hitting a top speed of 90 km/h. The powertrain is mated to IP67-rated LG lithium-ion battery packs that carry an 8-year or 80,000 km warranty.

Yatri offers three main battery choices with claimed city ranges:

• 3 kWh battery (90 km range)
• 3.7 kWh battery (112 km range)
• 5.2 kWh battery (157 km range)

An optional 1.8 kWh range extender is also available, adding an extra 50 km and boosting the maximum range of the 5.2 kWh model up to 207 km.

Charging Capabilities

With DC fast charging, the Yatri P2 can charge from low to 80% in 41 minutes across all battery sizes. For home charging, the built-in 1,350W AC charger gets the battery to 80% in under 2.5 hours, offering Eco, Optimized, and Quick modes. Furthermore, Sipradi and Yatri plan to establish DC fast chargers across around 30 cities in Nepal, stretching from Birtamode in the east to Jomsom in the west.

Smart Features

Technologically advanced, the P2 houses a 7-inch TFT display with built-in 4G connectivity, displaying real-time vehicle stats and charging locations. It uniquely supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The companion smartphone app enables trip planning, live location tracking, remote immobilization, theft alerts, and proximity keyless start.

Additional features include tire-pressure monitoring, hill hold, cruise control, fall detection, three riding modes, reverse mode, and three adjustable levels of regenerative braking.
