Xiaomi has officially introduced the Redmi Note 17, alongside the Note 17 Pro , skipping the “Note 16” and succeeding the Redmi Note 15 lineup. This phone features a large 6.99-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 SoC, and more. In this article, I will cover everything you need to know about the Redmi Note 17, including its specifications, availability, and expected price in Nepal.
Starting with the design, the Redmi Note 17 adopts a modern look with a flat frame, curved edges for a more comfortable grip, and a matte-finish rear panel. The phone measures 8.45 thick and weighs around 225g. It also moves the camera module to the top-left corner, replacing the centrally positioned layout seen on its predecessor, the Note 15. The camera sensors are arranged within a rounded rectangular camera island, giving the phone a cleaner appearance.
For durability, the phone comes with an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. It is available in Black, Sky Teal, and Celestial Purple color options.
Moving on to the display, the Redmi Note 17 features a 6.99-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2396 × 1080 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and animations. The display can also reach up to 1,800 nits of peak brightness, making it easier to view even under bright sunlight.
Xiaomi has also included Glove Mode Touch, allowing the screen to respond while wearing gloves, alongside Wet Hand Touch 2.0, which improves touch responsiveness when the display or your hands are wet, oily, or covered in foam. For security, the phone has an under-display fingerprint scanner.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 17 is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, built on a 4nm process. It features an octa-core architecture with A78-based performance cores clocked at up to 2.3GHz, offering improved efficiency for everyday tasks while keeping power consumption lower.
The chipset is said to handle regular usage and mainstream MOBA gaming at up to 60fps with HD graphics. The phone is configured with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of LPDDR4x UFS 2.2 storage.
On the software side, the Redmi Note 17 runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Xiaomi has also promised up to six years of security updates and claims that software optimizations help the phone maintain smooth performance for up to four years.
For optics, the Redmi Note 17 features a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, which is rather a noticeable downgrade compared to its predecessor. On the front, the phone comes with a 16MP camera with an f/2.5 aperture for selfies and video calls. Both cameras support video recording up to 1080p@30fps.
In terms of battery, the Redmi Note 17 packs a massive 7,700mAh battery paired with 45W wired charging. It also supports 22.5W reverse wired charging. Xiaomi claims the phone can deliver up to 2.3 days of normal usage on a single charge.
The Redmi Note 17 is now available in Europe with a starting price of EUR 329.90 for the 6/128GB variant. Meanwhile, the 6/256GB model is priced at EUR 379, while there is no information about the top-end 8/256GB variant price. The company has not announced its local availability yet. When it launches here, we expect the Redmi Note 17 price in Nepal to start at around NPR 58,699 for the base variant.
