Xiaomi has officially expanded its budget lineup with the launch of the Redmi 17C 5G in Singapore, alongside a regular 4G variant. The smartphone comes equipped with a large 6,000mAh battery, a high-refresh-rate display, and MediaTek's entry-level 5G processor. Remarkably, its hardware specifications remain almost identical to those of its predecessor, the Redmi 15C 5G.

The Redmi 17C 5G retains a simple design language featuring a flat frame and a rectangular rear camera module. Available in Black, Purple, and Brown color options, the smartphone measures 8.01mm in thickness and weighs 211 grams. It also carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash protection, offering extra durability for daily use.
On the front, the device houses a large 6.9-inch IPS LCD panel with an HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and animations, as well as a 240Hz touch sampling rate for improved touch responsiveness. Brightness peaks at around 810 nits, making it suitable for standard outdoor visibility.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the handset is powered by the 6nm octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. It is coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with microSD card expansion support for extra capacity. The device runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 out of the box. Xiaomi promises 2 years of major Android version updates and up to 4 years of security patches.
Camera and Battery
In terms of optics, the Redmi 17C 5G features a 50MP primary rear camera paired with a secondary sensor. On the front, an 8MP camera is available for selfies and video calls. Powering the package is a massive 6,000mAh battery that supports 33W wired fast charging.

The Redmi 17C 5G is currently available in Singapore for SGD 279 for the single 4GB + 128GB configuration. While Xiaomi has not officially detailed local release plans yet, if launched here, the Redmi 17C 5G price in Nepal is expected to be around NPR 33,599 for the base variant.
