Xiaomi has officially expanded its smartphone lineup in Europe with the launch of the Redmi Note 17 Pro alongside the standard Redmi Note 17. Serving as the direct successor to the Redmi Note 15 Pro, this new handset packs a significant battery upgrade, high durability ratings, and refined software.
Design and Display
The Redmi Note 17 Pro retains a flat-edge design with a plastic frame similar to its predecessor. On the back, it features a redesigned matte-finish square camera module housing dual lenses and an LED flash. Durability is a standout feature, as the phone carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for resistance against dust and water ingress. Available color options include Sky Blue, Purple, Satin Orange, and Black. For biometric security, it uses a short-focus optical in-display fingerprint sensor.
On the front, the phone sports a 6.83-inch flat AMOLED panel offering a 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Visuals are brightened by a peak brightness of 3,500 nits for HDR content. To reduce eye strain, the screen incorporates 3840Hz high PWM-DC dimming, while Wet Hand Touch 2.0 ensures responsiveness even with wet fingers.
Performance and Software
Powering the Redmi Note 17 Pro is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor, an entry-level mid-range chip also utilized in devices like the Motorola Moto G57 Power. It provides efficient daily task management. While not tailored purely for gaming, Xiaomi notes that titles like PUBG Mobile, CODM, MOBA games, and Free Fire Max run smoothly at medium to high settings, whereas heavier titles like Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, and Zenless Zone Zero may experience performance drops at higher graphic presets.
The phone offers configurations with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. It runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, which introduces cleaner UI animations, system optimizations for large batteries, and improved cross-device connectivity.
Cameras and Battery Life
In terms of optics, the Redmi Note 17 Pro carries a dual rear camera system featuring a 50MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. For selfies and video calls, there is a 16MP front-facing camera.
Battery life is one of the phone's biggest highlights, featuring a huge 8,340mAh battery—a considerable increase over the 6,580mAh capacity found in the Note 15 Pro. Xiaomi estimates over two days of battery endurance under normal use. Charging is handled via 67W wired HyperCharge technology, and the device also supports 22.5W wired reverse charging to power up accessories or other phones.
