Apple has officially announced the Apple TV 4K Gen 4 (2026), marking the first major refresh to its streaming box line nearly four years after the 2022 Gen 3 model. Retaining its familiar compact design, the latest media player brings significant internal updates, including the A19 processor, built-in far-field microphones, and a revamped Siri voice experience.
Enhanced Siri and Hands-Free Voice Control
The standout addition to the new Apple TV 4K is its upgraded Siri functionality. Equipped with three far-field microphones and integrated echo cancellation, users can issue voice commands from across the room without holding the remote. Siri now supports more natural, conversational queries, allowing users to search for content by describing actors or contextual details. To access personal-context features, users must pair the device with an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone or iPad running the latest software and enable Siri AI in a supported language via the Home app.
A19 Performance and Storage
Under the hood, the streaming box is powered by Apple's A19 chip, which is also featured in the iPhone 17 lineup. Compared to the previous generation, the new processor delivers up to 50% faster CPU speeds and double the GPU performance, offering smoother navigation and enhanced gaming capabilities. It includes 128GB of internal storage and a dedicated AV1 decoder for high-efficiency video playback. Wireless connectivity gets an upgrade to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 via Apple's custom N1 networking chip, alongside Thread protocol support for smart home integration.
Smart Home and Audio Capabilities
Serving as a smart home control center, the device can display live feeds from supported smart doorbells, facilitate two-way audio with visitors, and trigger smart lock unlocks directly on the TV screen. AI-generated camera descriptions and activity summaries require an eligible iCloud+ plan and setup through an Apple Intelligence-enabled mobile device.
For home theater setups, the new model supports a four-speaker surround sound configuration using four HomePod (2nd generation) or HomePod mini 2 speakers, provided the front and rear pairs use matching models. HDMI eARC compatibility also allows audio from connected gaming consoles or other TV inputs to route directly through the HomePods.
Siri Remote and Availability
The included Siri Remote now integrates Apple's Find My network, featuring sound alerts and Precision Finding (supported on iPhone 17 series except 17e, iPhone Air, or iPhone Duo). As the Apple TV 4K Gen 4 rolls out globally, official availability and exact pricing details for Nepal are expected to be announced soon.
