Job Description

SOS Children's Villages Nepal is dedicated to providing family-like care and strengthening vulnerable families across the country. To ensure the holistic growth and emotional well-being of the children, young people, and caregivers under our care, we are inviting applications from qualified professionals for the role of Coordinator – Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).

As the MHPSS Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in designing, coordinating, and implementing comprehensive psychosocial frameworks tailored to the needs of children, families, and staff. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mental health awareness, resilience-building, and emotional care into daily practices and community support programs throughout Nepal.

Core operational duties for this position include:

  • Leading the development and standardization of psychosocial support interventions across various program locations.
  • Building the technical capacity of social workers, educators, and care staff through targeted MHPSS training and continuous guidance.
  • Assessing psychosocial needs and coordinating specialized care or referrals for individuals requiring advanced psychological intervention.
  • Collaborating with local health authorities, community networks, and external specialists to establish robust referral pathways.
  • Promoting child safeguarding, trauma-informed practices, and mental health best practices across all organizational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Public Health, or a closely related field.
  • Relevant professional experience in coordinating or implementing mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programs.
  • Solid understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and community-based psychosocial frameworks.
  • Strong training, facilitation, and communication skills in both Nepali and English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work empathetically and effectively with vulnerable children, families, and community partners.
