Next-Gen Flagship Arriving Soon
Following the release of its latest foldable, Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil its next generation of numbered flagship smartphones. The Chinese tech giant has officially confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will be unveiled in China on September 23 at 7 PM local time. The initial lineup will feature the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, while the standard Xiaomi 18 model is set to arrive at a later date.
Design and Built-in Privacy Display
While maintaining the signature rear display from its predecessor, the 18 Pro series refines the aesthetic with slimmer bezels, a reorganized camera layout, and a newly added side button. Color options include Black, White, and a new Starry River Blue finish.
On the front, the lineup debuts Xiaomi's Super Pixel 2.0 display, which incorporates hardware-level privacy protection directly into the panel using an M11 light-emitting system with full RGB pixel arrangement. This panel is 20% more energy-efficient, achieves a massive peak brightness of 4,000 nits, and features ultra-thin 0.99mm bezels. On the back, the updated "Versatile Back Screen" offers interactive utilities like timers, Pomodoro sessions, water tracking, vocabulary building, recipe suggestions, and AI customization.
Massive 200MP Leica Cameras
In terms of photography, Xiaomi is introducing a Leica co-engineered dual-camera setup featuring two 200MP sensors. The main shooter utilizes a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, while the upgraded 200MP periscope telephoto uses a 1/1.56-inch sensor with 3.2x optical zoom and macro focusing capabilities down to 12cm. Xiaomi claims a light intake improvement of 280% on the 18 Pro and 83% on the 18 Pro Max compared to previous models. Selfies are handled by a 50MP front-facing camera.
2nm Performance and Battery Upgrade
Under the hood, the series will run on an advanced 2nm chipset, expected to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, paired with Android 16-based HyperOS out of the box. Battery capacities have also received a substantial upgrade: the Xiaomi 18 Pro packs a 7,000mAh battery, while the 18 Pro Max features an enormous 8,500mAh battery. Both support fast 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
Pricing and Nepal Availability
Xiaomi has not yet disclosed official pricing for the series. Details regarding launch, pricing, and availability in Nepal remain unconfirmed, so local tech enthusiasts will need to wait for official announcements regarding its release in the Nepali market.
