Overview and Design
Vivo has officially expanded its flagship series with the launch of the Vivo X500 in China. Positioned right between the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max in terms of physical sizing, the handset retains a premium build with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. Measuring 8.15mm in thickness and weighing 211g or 213g depending on the finish, the device introduces a new rear layout dubbed the "Superhealing Floating Island". Instead of a centered camera module, the circular camera module sits on the left within a raised rectangular glass plateau. It comes in four color variants: Sunny Day, Dawn, Earth Echo, and Night Photography.
Display Quality
Up front, the smartphone features a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2750 x 1260 pixels. The display utilizes LTPS technology, allowing it to switch refresh rates between 30Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, and 144Hz depending on screen activity. It delivers 2,000 nits of high brightness mode for sunlight legibility and peaks at 4,000 nits for HDR content. The screen also supports 10-bit color, adaptive dimming, and Night Owl protection 4.0 for low-light eye comfort.
Performance and Software
Powering the Vivo X500 is MediaTek's 3nm Dimensity 9600M chipset, coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 internal storage. On the software side, it runs OriginOS 7 based on Android 17 out of the box. Vivo guarantees 5 years of Android OS upgrades alongside 5 years of security updates, supplemented by a 72-month anti-aging rating for sustained long-term speed.
Cameras and Battery
For photography, the device carries a Zeiss-certified triple rear camera system. It includes a 50MP Sony LYT828 main sensor (1/1.28-inch) with Zeiss gimbal-level OIS, a 64MP Sony LYTIA-610 APO telephoto sensor with OIS offering 3.1x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide lens. The rear camera supports up to 8K video recording, while a 50MP camera on the front handles selfies and video calls. Supplying power to the device is a large 7,500mAh battery.
