Tribhuvan University (TU) has officially filled two key leadership positions with the appointments of Prof. Dr. Anjana Singh as Rector and Prof. Dr. Rabindra Shiwakoti as Registrar. The appointments were formally made by Prime Minister and University Chancellor Balendra Shah, following recommendations submitted by the TU Vice-Chancellor.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Education, both newly appointed executive officials are scheduled to take their official oath of office at 3:00 PM today.
Profile of the New Rector
Prof. Dr. Anjana Singh brings extensive academic and administrative experience to the role of Rector. She is a former professor at TU’s Central Department of Microbiology and serves as an Academician at the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST). Dr. Singh completed her PhD in Microbiology from Jawaharlal Nehru University in India in 2003. Her leadership background includes serving two terms as the Head of the Central Department of Microbiology at Tribhuvan University, first from 2004 to 2008 and later from 2012 to 2016.
Profile of the New Registrar and Context
Prof. Dr. Rabindra Shiwakoti, who takes on the responsibility of Registrar, is a former Associate Professor at TU's Faculty of Education.
These appointments resolve long-standing leadership vacancies in the university's central executive team. The government had previously relieved former office-bearers of their duties through an ordinance issued last April. Although the Vice-Chancellor was appointed later in July, the leadership roles of Rector and Registrar remained vacant until today's official announcement.
