In a major development for school educators and staff across Nepal, the federal government has officially decided to revise and raise the salaries of teachers working under the federal teaching support grant quota. The decision was formalized during a Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.
Revised Salary Rates for Grant Teachers
Under the newly sanctioned pay structure, secondary-level teachers (Grades 9–10) working under the teaching support grant quota will now draw remuneration equivalent to that of a permanent third-class secondary-level teacher. Similarly, basic-level teachers (Grades 6–8) serving under the same quota will receive a revised salary equal to a third-class lower-secondary-level teacher.
Rs. 5,000 Boost for ECD Facilitators and School Staff
In addition to adjusting the salaries of grant quota teachers, the Cabinet has significantly enhanced the monthly grant allocated for Early Childhood Development (ECD) facilitators and school employees. According to the decision, the remuneration provided to ECD facilitators, school support staff, and overall school employees has been increased by Rs. 5,000 per month.
Announcing the decision, Education Minister and government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel confirmed that the government took this initiative to align the compensation of federal grant teachers and support personnel with updated standard levels. The adjustment is expected to bring financial relief to thousands of ECD facilitators, support personnel, and grant-based school staff operating across Nepal's public education network.
