Samsung has officially introduced its newest clamshell foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 8, debuting alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra. The latest foldable retains its signature flip form factor while bringing a lighter body, a redesigned hinge, the new Exynos 2600 processor, and Android 17-based software to the market.
Sleeker Build and Dual Displays
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 stands as Samsung's thinnest flip phone so far, measuring just 6.5mm when opened and 13.7mm when folded. Tipping the scales at only 180 grams, it provides a light and comfortable single-handed experience. Durability is reinforced via an Armor Aluminum frame, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, and an updated Armor Flex hinge. Color choices include Pink, Graphite, Cream, and Mint.
On the exterior, the device features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow cover display boasting up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness. Powered by One UI 9, users can now operate full applications directly on this outer screen without needing to unfold the device. Inside, a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main panel offers FHD+ resolution, an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, 16M color depth, and Vision Booster for clear outdoor visibility.
Hardware, Software, and Updates
Under the hood, Samsung adopts a dual-chip strategy: US models pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, whereas other global markets receive the Exynos 2600 chipset. Paired with 12GB of RAM and storage configurations up to 512GB, the phone handles multitasking and daily tasks with ease. Out of the box, it runs One UI 9.0 built on Android 17, complete with Galaxy AI features. Samsung promises long-term reliability with seven generations of Android OS upgrades and security patches.
Cameras and Battery
For photography, the Z Flip 8 retains a 50MP primary sensor with OIS paired with a 12MP ultrawide camera, while a 10MP camera is housed on the inner display. The outer FlexWindow allows users to take high-resolution selfies using the main camera array. Samsung’s upgraded ProVisual Engine and Galaxy AI drive camera enhancements such as Nightography and improved portrait rendering.
Backing the foldable is a 4,300mAh silicone-carbon battery, supported by 25W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging capabilities.
