Rajarshi Janak University Unveils Rs 511.7 Million Budget for FY 2083/084

Rajarshi Janak University (RJU) has announced an estimated budget of NPR 511.7 million (Rs 51 crore 17 lakh 2 thousand) for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/084. Presented during the university's Senate meeting in accordance with the Rajarshi Janak University Act, 2074, the strategic program aims to drive academic growth, physical infrastructure development, research, and administrative digitalization.

Out of the total financial framework, Rs 210.89 million has been set aside for capital expenditure, while Rs 300.80 million is earmarked for operational and recurrent costs. The university currently serves 5,927 students across its constituent and affiliated campuses, offering more than 20 undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Following the recent launch of high-demand degrees such as Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT), Master of Computer Applications (MCA), BA LLB, and Master of Laws (LLM), RJU aims to enroll at least 5,000 new students in the coming academic session while implementing the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) Integrated Academic Calendar.

Infrastructure Expansion and Skill Development

To promote vocational and market-oriented learning, RJU has operationalized its School of Health Sciences and established practical clinical training partnerships with local hospitals. The university has also launched an 'Earn While You Learn' model to assist deserving students. On the physical development front, construction of a modern academic facility will soon begin on a 9 Bigha 14 Kattha plot in Nagarain, Dhanusha, based on an approved Detailed Project Report (DPR). Additionally, the university is partnering with the Madhesh Province Government to construct the Pandit Mangal Kumar Upadhyay Multiple Campus building in Gaur, Rautahat, while advancing plans for a law campus in Kathmandu and a technology campus in Bara.

Research Initiatives and Full Digitalization

RJU is establishing a dedicated Research and Innovation body, publishing two peer-reviewed academic journals, and hosting international conferences on Eastern Philosophy, the Ramayana Circuit, and Mithila Art and Culture as it prepares for its Second Convocation. To modernize governance, the university is adopting a full paperless strategy by integrating a Learning Management System (LMS), Integrated Campus Management System (ICMS), and the UGC’s Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS).
