The Medical Education Commission (MEC) has officially released an notice regarding the submission of the Self-Appraisal form under the National Board of Medical Specialties (NBMS) for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/084 (2026/2027).
Eligibility for Application
This invitation is aimed at interested government and private hospitals, as well as non-academic health institutions, that wish to conduct specialty-level academic programs equivalent to MD/MS degrees under the National Board of Medical Specialties. To be eligible to run these programs for the 2083/084 academic cycle, institutions must complete and submit the official NBMS Specialty-level Self-Appraisal form.
Excluded Institutions
The commission has specified that existing universities, medical academies, and medical colleges are excluded from this notice. This self-appraisal phase is tailored specifically for other qualified public and private healthcare facilities looking to operate MD/MS equivalent specialty training under the MEC framework.
Purpose of the Self-Appraisal
The self-appraisal process serves as an essential preliminary evaluation to assess the clinical capacity, infrastructure, and operational readiness of health facilities aiming to deliver postgraduate specialty education in Nepal. Institutions planning to participate for the fiscal year 2083/084 (2026/2027) must ensure all details in the appraisal submission are accurate and complete per MEC regulations.
