In a bid to raise the quality of education across public institutions, the Education Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has officially signed performance agreements with designated resource teachers. This strategic move aims to transform teaching-learning methodologies within community schools, ensuring they become more practical, effective, and student-centered.
The agreement signing ceremony saw the participation of Namraj Dhakal, Head of KMC's Education Department, alongside the resource teachers assigned to various clusters. This administrative measure aligns with the guidelines outlined in the Resource Teacher Management Procedure, 2080, following an official decision made by the metropolitan city's Education and Health Committee on August 7.
Roles and Responsibilities of Resource Teachers
According to the terms of the performance pact, resource teachers are entrusted with creating an improved academic and learning environment within community schools situated in their designated territories. Their primary focus will be to bridge municipal policies with actual classroom execution, ensuring that Kathmandu Metropolitan City's educational agendas are seamlessly integrated at the school level.
In addition to monitoring academic standards, resource teachers will drive the continuous professional growth of teachers through guidance and capacity-building efforts. They are also expected to serve as key coordinators, working directly with school leaders to troubleshoot operational difficulties and resolve challenges faced by community schools in the capital.
