Huawei FreeBuds Neo Introduced with Adaptive ANC and Mini-Stem Design

Huawei has officially unveiled its newest truly wireless earbuds, the FreeBuds Neo, starting with a European launch. Moving away from traditional extended stems, these earbuds feature a compact mini-stem form factor paired with a pebble-like 'mini shuttle' charging case. Each earbud weighs only 4.8 grams, while the case weighs 31.4 grams. Designed using data from 150 ear profiles and more than 10,000 ear samples, the pressure-relieving structure and balanced center of gravity provide a secure and relaxed fit. They also come with an IP55 rating for dust and splash resistance and are offered in four finishes: Stellar Silver, Nebula Pink, Ice White, and Starry Black.

Audio Quality and Intuitive Touch Controls

Touch-sensitive controls cover approximately 60% of the front stem surface. Users can double-tap to manage music or answer incoming calls, triple-tap to skip tracks, swipe up or down to adjust volume, and press and hold to switch noise control modes. Sound is driven by an 11mm dynamic driver with a lightweight diaphragm, delivering a frequency response from 10Hz to 48kHz. The FreeBuds Neo support LDAC high-bitrate streaming at up to 990kbps, alongside up to 2.3Mbps transmission for 24-bit/48kHz lossless audio on compatible Huawei smartphones. Spatial audio with head tracking is included for immersive media, while an FPS mode enhances footsteps and sound cues during mobile gaming.

Adaptive Noise Cancellation and Voice Isolation

Active Noise Cancellation is driven by a third-generation audio chip and a dual-channel setup. The adaptive ANC engine monitors surrounding environmental noise up to 400,000 times per second, achieving an average noise reduction depth of 30dB under test conditions. An Awareness mode is also available for listening to surroundings without removing the buds. For clear voice calls, each bud uses three microphones combined with a bone-conduction microphone, isolating voice clarity in ambient noise up to 95dB and wind speeds up to 9m/s.

App Support and Battery Endurance

Through the Huawei Audio Connect app on Android and iOS, users can customize audio profiles, manage dual-device multipoint connections, locate lost buds, and monitor battery status. Battery capacity stands at 60mAh per earbud and 460mAh inside the charging case. A single charge provides up to 10 hours of music listening with ANC disabled, or 6.5 hours with ANC enabled, extending up to 40 hours of total listening time using the charging case.
