Smartphones with secondary E Ink displays aren't entirely new, but Honor is tackling the idea from a fresh angle. Instead of embedding a second screen onto the phone body, the company has unveiled the Honor Life S3—a standalone E Ink companion that magnetically clips onto your device.
Display and Ergonomics
The Honor Life S3 sports a compact 3.68-inch E Ink panel with a sharp 259ppi pixel density. Designed specifically for reading without straining your eyes, it consumes minimal energy when displaying static pages. Navigation is straightforward: you can swipe or tap directly on the touchscreen to flip pages, or use the dedicated physical power key on the right and a function key on the left side.
Measuring just 5.6mm in thickness and weighing a lightweight 61 grams, this reader adds minimal bulk when attached to a smartphone. However, potential buyers should note that it lacks an integrated front light. This means comfortable reading requires external ambient light, making it ideal for outdoors or well-lit rooms, but less practical in total darkness.
Connectivity, Storage, and Battery
File transfers are seamless thanks to Wi-Fi 6 support via the Honor Smart Space application. The accessory handles a wide array of document formats, including EPUB, MOBI, TXT, DOC, DOCX, and PDF. To store your digital library, Honor has included a dedicated microSD card slot capable of expanding storage by up to 1TB, so you don't need to hog your phone's internal memory.
Powering the device is a 650mAh battery designed to yield up to 30 hours of non-stop reading on a single charge. Charging is convenient as well, utilizing a standard USB Type-C connection.
Honor Life S3 Price and Availability in Nepal
The Honor Life S3 has officially debuted in China with a price tag of CNY 360 (approximately USD 50). Honor has not yet revealed plans for an international release, meaning official availability outside China remains unconfirmed.
While no official announcement has been made regarding its launch in Nepal, translating the Chinese pricing suggests the Honor Life S3 could cost around NPR 7,000 if it eventually makes its way to the Nepali market.
