To align school-level education with contemporary needs and make learning more practical and useful, the government has initiated the revision of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education, 2076. As part of this initiative, the Curriculum Development Centre (CDC) will gather input and suggestions from key stakeholders across all seven provinces.
Nationwide Consultations Across Seven Provinces
The CDC will hold discussions with a broad spectrum of participants, including teachers, students, parents, education experts, policymakers, and community leaders. The task force responsible for the revision highlighted that incorporating suggestions and practical experiences from diverse stakeholders nationwide will ensure the updated curriculum is realistic, effective, and responsive to modern requirements.
Focus on Modern Technology, Vocational Skills, and Local Knowledge
The provincial consultations will address fundamental aspects of the school education system. Key focus areas include reviewing the overall goals of school education, managing curriculum workload, addressing teacher needs, and strengthening technical and vocational education. Additionally, the discussions will emphasize integrating local and indigenous knowledge alongside emerging fields like digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
Other vital topics to be addressed during the provincial feedback sessions include moral and civic education, student holistic development, early childhood development, individual learning needs, disaster management integration, and the overall structural framework of school education in Nepal.
