Dell has officially launched the Dell 14 Premium in Nepal, bringing its rebranded flagship laptop line to the local market. First introduced globally in June 2025, the Dell Premium series serves as the direct successor to the long-standing XPS line. While the 14-inch model is now available locally, the larger Dell 16 Premium is yet to officially enter the Nepali market.
Dell's New Branding Scheme
Earlier in January, Dell announced a sweeping change to its product naming convention. Legacy series names like XPS, Inspiron, Latitude, Precision, and OptiPlex are being phased out, with Alienware remaining as the sole survivor. Moving forward, standard consumer machines fall under the core 'Dell' banner, business laptops are named 'Dell Pro', and top-tier performance devices are labeled 'Dell Pro Max'. Additionally, 'Plus' and 'Premium' badges signify higher build quality and upgraded aesthetics.
Design and Display Specifications
Aesthetically, the Dell 14 Premium and 16 Premium retain the signature look of previous XPS laptops, featuring an all-metal chassis in Platinum or Graphite finishes along with thin InfinityEdge bezels. Dell has made minor weight reductions: the Dell 14 Premium weighs 1.66 kg (down from 1.68 kg on the XPS 14), while the Dell 16 Premium weighs 2.06 kg (down from 2.13 kg).
The Dell 14 Premium carries a 14.5-inch panel offered in either a 2K IPS option or a 3.2K OLED touchscreen. On the other hand, the Dell 16 Premium can be configured with up to a 4K OLED panel featuring a 120Hz refresh rate.
Performance and Connectivity
Under the hood, both ultrabooks run on Intel Core Ultra Series 2 "Arrow Lake" chips. The 14-inch model scales up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor (16 cores/16 threads, 28W base power), whereas the 16-inch version supports up to a Core Ultra 9 285H (16 cores/16 threads, 45W base power). Base models feature integrated Intel Arc graphics, while dedicated GPU configurations offer up to an RTX 4050 on the Dell 14 Premium and up to an RTX 5070 on the Dell 16 Premium.
Both laptops start with 16GB of non-upgradeable LPDDR5x RAM, expandable up to 32GB on the 14 Premium and 64GB on the 16 Premium. Storage starts at a user-upgradeable 512GB PCIe Gen4 SSD. Port options include three Thunderbolt 4 ports (with USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort 2.1 support), a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microSD card slot. Wireless features cover WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, alongside an FHD RGB-IR camera with Windows Hello recognition.
