CMF, the sub-brand under Nothing, has officially entered the portable audio market with the global debut of the CMF Speaker S and CMF Speaker M. Both models stand out with an eye-catching "milk carton" aesthetic, customizable hardware components, and a versatile feature set tailored for portable listening.
Distinctive Design and Customization
Moving away from conventional cylindrical speaker designs, both CMF models sport a boxy look featuring sloping top edges and an oversized control knob. They come in four distinct color options: White, Dark Grey, Orange, and Turquoise. CMF has also emphasized personalization by making the front panel and control dial removable, allowing users to attach custom 3D-printed replacements.
Regarding dimensions, the smaller CMF Speaker S measures 130.5 x 85 x 44mm and weighs 334 grams, including a built-in cutout for straps or carabiners. The larger Speaker M measures 220 x 85 x 54mm, weighs 602 grams, and features a dedicated carrying handle. Both devices boast an IP68 rating for dust and water protection, making them durable enough for outdoor adventures.
Audio Hardware and Performance
Sound delivery differs between the two models. The compact CMF Speaker S incorporates a 45mm full-range driver alongside dual passive radiators, delivering 10W RMS output across a 70Hz to 20kHz frequency response. Meanwhile, the larger Speaker M pairs a 25W 70mm woofer with a 10W 16mm tweeter to deliver a combined 35W RMS output, reaching deeper down to 60Hz for stronger low-end response.
Both speakers include adaptive real-time audio tuning, an Ultra Bass mode, and a Wide Soundstage mode. Through the Nothing X companion app, listeners can select from four preset EQs—Balanced, More Bass, More Treble, and Voice—or create their own sound profile using the custom EQ tool.
Connectivity and Battery Endurance
For connectivity, the speakers feature Bluetooth 6.0 with dual-device multipoint pairing. They also support NFC tap-to-pair, Google Fast Pair, and Microsoft Swift Pair. A dedicated USB-C wired audio connection offers sub-60ms latency for gaming or video playback. Users can combine two identical models for true Stereo Mode or use Auracast-powered Party Mode to sync multiple speakers.
In terms of battery life, both speakers promise up to 18 hours of continuous playback. The Speaker S is equipped with a 2,600mAh battery capacity.
Expected Price in Nepal
While official availability in the Nepali market has not been announced yet, both CMF Speaker S and Speaker M are expected to launch in Nepal soon through authorized channels at competitive price points.
