Nepal Cabinet Meeting: 11 Key Decisions Announced Including Teacher Salary Adjustments

The Government of Nepal has announced eleven major decisions endorsed during the recent Cabinet meeting conducted at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Wednesday. Minister for Education and government spokesperson Sasmita Pokharel made these decisions public, highlighting key developments across education, foreign relations, aviation, legislation, and public administration.

Major Adjustments in Teacher Salary Grants

Among the key decisions, the government has addressed the remuneration structure for educators working under teaching assistance grant quotas. Under the newly approved provision, salaries for basic-level teachers (Grades 6–8) will now be aligned with the lower-secondary third-class pay scale. Similarly, teachers serving at the secondary level (Grades 9–10) under grant quotas will receive pay equivalent to the secondary third-class scale.

Bilateral Agreements and Legislative Amendments

In the aviation and diplomatic sectors, the Cabinet approved a bilateral air services agreement between Nepal and Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, the government endorsed the participation of a Nepali delegation, headed by a Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Home Affairs, in the upcoming 14th meeting of the Joint Working Group on Border Management scheduled to take place in India on Bhadra 4 and 5.

On the legislative front, the executive body approved the submission of amendment bills to the Federal Parliament for both the Payment and Settlement Act, 2075, and the Citizen Investment Trust Act, 2047. Additionally, the Cabinet formally endorsed the Software Development and Operation Committee Formation Order, 2083, alongside various official appointments.
